Reasons why another site will link to yours

Why would anyone link to your site? Here are 25 reasons why another site will link to yours.

1) Because you pay them for a listing
Directory listings are some of the easiest to get, but remember you must read and follow their guidelines and Google's webmaster guidelines carefully. Here's an example of a listing for PatioShoppers.com that you'll find at the Skaffe directory:
2) Because you're a member of a Trade Association
Join groups related to your industry and you'll soon find easy opportunities for links. As with Cabinetstore.com on the Woodworker's Website Association site:
3) Because people are discussing your products
People are talking about your products, as in this question about ShelfGenie.com published on Apartment Therapy. So, set up a Google alert to tell you when people publish and respond to any questions immediately.
4) Because you're a member of a local group
Local groups and associations can also be great sources of local links, as in this link to BrindleyBeach.com from the Outerbanks Chamber of Commerce.
5) Because you make a great case study
Always take part in surveys and volunteer your opinions. Let your suppliers know you exist. Perfume company Tuccini got an editorial link on a story about Analytics firm Coremetrics.
6) Because you belong to a specific demographic group
Whether you are a young or an over-50 entrepeneur, a work-at-home mom or a dad that runs an affiliate site, join up with like-minded people. Be part of your online community. Note that this site, YoungEntrepreneur.com, invites you to submit details of your start-up:
7) Because you submit a tip
No matter what your business, you'll have tips and tricks your customers will love and link to:
8) Because you comment on a breaking news story
Keep an eye on the news. You'll be surprised how many stories you can comment on. PetsPlace.com did a great job piggybacking on the news that the Clintons' cat, Socks, passed away. They compiled a list of the 10 Oddest Presidential Pets and got links such as this one from AbeBooks as a result:
9) Because you're a valuable resource
Make sure you're visible online so that writers can find you when they're compiling a list of resources. A writer on a ‘road and movie' trip through Arizona, visits locations from famous movies. At the end of the article, he lists resources for anyone following in his footsteps.
10) Because you offer a discount
We all love a discount and that's why many bloggers and journalists will write about and link to any great offers you have. Even better, if you can tie into a specific holiday like Broadmoor resort did here.
11) Because you make a donation
Your charitable donations are not only good in themselves, but they can also bring tasty links as shown by Crumbs Bake Shop's and their donation to the Japan earthquake relief fund.
12) Because you support your industry
FabFours.com is a leading bumper manufacturer who support SEMA, the Specialist Equipment Marketing Association – their support has been rewarded with a link.
13) Because you have an unusual business
People just love crazy ideas, so if you've got one flaunt it. Barberstops.com just cries out for attention, and links like this one from CoolBusinessIdeas.com is the result:
14) Because you give an interview
People love to hear stories, not dull business facts. Put yourself forward as an interesting interviewee and you'll get links like Bonobos.com got here at SmallBusinessAdvocate:
15) Because you're offering an internship or job
Even the internships you offer provide linkworthy content. Warby Parker is a spectacle company in New York that is looking to recruit interns. By spreading the word, they got this link One Day Internship:
16) Because you attend an exhibition
If you attend exhibitions don't be shy. Make sure the organizers know you exist. Many such events now offer links to participating companies. NewBathNow.com attend exhibitions and events in promoting their bathroom remodeling products:
17) Because you buck a trend
One day it's all doom and gloom, the next there are signs of a recovery. Learn to ride the waves like Everything2go.com in this newspaper article:
18) Because you publish videos on your own site
Producing videos is now very inexpensive. Build your video skills and then build those links. Yeti Coolers are stronger than ordinary coolers. And they've made some videos to prove it. The videos attracted links from the spearfishing community at SpearBoard.com:
19) Because you publish videos on YouTube
It's great if your videos go viral, but that's the exception. Just create great stuff your customers will love. TRXTraining.com publish an intensive 12-week fitness program on YouTube. It brings them links like this one:
20) Because your products make great gifts
Think three months ahead. That means in November you should be thinking about what you're going to do on Valentine's Day. As this post on 101 healthy Valentine's gifts shows:
21) Because you help them make money
Help people make money and you'll have little problem getting links. Many bloggers have affiliate links for the products they write about and review. Offering an affiliate scheme can bring you extra sales and extra links, as it did with Estella-nyc.com:
22) Because your products are healthy
FoodShouldTasteGood.com focus on healthy foods. They were featured in this article from Epicurious Magazine on healthy foods that kids love:
23) Because you support a local college
It takes a bit of effort, but by approaching and helping your local college you can get some tasty links, as Appareo partners with North Dakota State University. And they got a trusted link as a result:
24) Because you seek help
Isn't it wonderful that you can get links just by asking people to help solve your problems? Appareo.com asked members at Marketing Profs what they thought about its mission statement and got a nice link as a result.
25) Because you encourage reviews
Look for every opportunity to have your products reviewed. Sites such as Mommy Enterprises invite companies to submit their products for review. The results include links like this one:

What is Black Hat SEO?

The term black hat SEO (also known as spamdexing or search spam or search engine spam) refers to using deceptive or unethical techniques that do not follow the search engine guidelines, in order to get high rankings in search engines. The following methods are generally adopted for black hat SEO purposes.

Black Hat SEO Techniques to Avoid

  • Hidden Text - Adding unwanted text and making it invisible by setting the same color and background, using tiny fonts, hiding through CSS code such as using "display: none" or putting it in "no script" or "no frame" sections etc.
  • Keyword Stuffing - Addition of keywords on calculated places within the body of the page to increase its keyword density, frequency and diversity. This is useful to make a page appear to be more relevant to a web spider for those specific keywords
  • Meta Tag Stuffing - Adding repeated keywords in the meta tags just for the intention of raising its relevancy.
  • Doorway Pages - These are generally irrelevant, low in quality, non informative or as to say "fake" pages that are only designed to attract web spiders. A doorway page will generally have "click here to enter" on the page.
  • URL Redirection - Taking the visitor to another site without their intention or knowledge. e.g. using JavaScript, server side redirection or HTML redirection using Meta Refresh tags.
  • Link Farms- A group of web sites that all hyperlink to every other site in the group.
  • Cloaking- It means to serve different contents of a web page to the search-engine spider and to the human visitors.
  • Mirror Websites- Hosting multiple websites with almost similar contents but different urls.
One thing to keep in mind that these black hat SEO techniques and tricks may work in most of the cases, but temporarily. These are not worth enough to take the risk. For long terms gain and getting permanent stable position in search engine results, all or everything that seems like black hat SEO should be avoided.

Selection of Keywords

The densely populated world of internet has been seeing an exponential addition of websites almost every day, making it tougher for a website to get a right kind of exposure. In order to be successful in this crowded virtual world, your web promotion techniques should be distinguishing so that maximum web traffic can be diverted to your website. In addition, the very first step to make your web promotion campaign successful is choosing an appropriate set of keywords, which has the potential to make your website more visible on the search engines.
Here, in this write-up we have enlisted few techniques that can guide you throughout the process of selecting and using the keywords for your website, which will ensure that your website stands differently amongst the crowd of websites.
Understand Your Target Audience
  • The very first step towards ‘keywords’ selection’ is to understand your target audience. Different websites serve to the needs of different kinds of people; hence it is very important that your website targets the right kind of audience for the suitable promotion of the website. Once you have understood whom you are writing for, the task of understanding what to write becomes easy.
Think and Search For Popular Words for Your Products/Services
  • The second step towards the selection of keywords is thinking of maximum possible words that a user can enter in the search engine to locate the product/service you offer. It is possible that a keyword, which a user enters into search engine, is grammatically incorrect. But, you need not to worry here as such words or phrases may include more popular form of keywords that are suitable for your kind of offering.
Add relevant keywords
  • After careful selection of the Keywords/Key Phrases, make sure that two or three relevant keywords, which exactly suit your website, have been effectively used on your web page. Also, make sure to include various other related terms or synonyms of your product/service in the   website content. This will ensure better chances of visibility of your website on the search engines.
Identifying the right positions
  • The positioning of keywords on the website should be given due importance. Always use a keyword at a place where they make sense. However, don’t forget to use them in Title tags and Meta tags.  Additionally, the keywords should not be used randomly, as a netizen can easily track them and judge that you have just made the website for the sake of promotion.
Selection and usage of apt keywords is an effective mode for reaching out to more number of people on the internet and thus solving the purpose of your website in the best possible way. Correct selection and usage of keywords play a major role in the popularity of your website. We have tried to discuss on the basics of keyword selection yet there are many more aspects to be considered, which may change as per the SEO trends.

How to Get Top Rank in Google

Google is the most popular search engine worldwide. So, getting a high rank on it is a significant thing. As many of us probably know, Google ranks a page according to the number and quality of links leading to that page.
According to Google, quality links come from pages that are important. The ranking algorithm is published on their website detailing the parameters that are considered and you can go through them to know how to increase the ranking by ethical means. Given below are some Google search engine promotion tips which are extended with Google search engine positioning tips.
  • Inbound Links: The ranking of the pages is done as per the number of links that point at your page. Therefore, you should point as many links as possible at the pages.
  • Title Tag: The title tag of your page is given weight by Google so a Web Editor that is used insert a “New Page” title automatically should be checked to see if meaningful text is being used with keywords to increase the ranking.
  • Keyword Density: This is a major aspect as the web crawlers of search engines look out the most for it. the pages should not have too much keyword but a healthy density in order to be ranked higher.
Some Other Google Ranking Tips
  • Cache Disabling: It would not affect a page’s ranking as claimed by Google
  • The Google Toolbar: It can be obtained free of cost and gives an idea how important Google thinks your site is by showing the Page Rank of any page that you visit
Probability of a high ranking increases if these guidelines are implemented properly and if given the best treatment, chances are your page may just get the coveted top slot by Google.

Are Traditional Search Engines Failing?

Is Google doomed? According to interviews with Stefan Weitz, traditional search engines are failing users. Indexing keywords and checking backlink quality is a flawed 12 year-old concept which no longer works on the modern web.
So who is Stefan Weitz? He’s Bing’s director.
The more cynical among you will conclude this is obvious marketing spin, but Weitz raises a few interesting points:
  1. Search engines have difficulty understanding keyword context. When a user enters “jaguars” are they interested in the big cat, the car manufacturer, or the Jacksonville football team?
  2. Search engines are relatively slow to index dynamic real-time data such as tweets or Facebook comments.
  3. Search engines index web pages but people often want the underlying data, e.g. stock prices, flight times, weather reports, etc.
In an attempt to make results more relevant, Bing has integrated Facebook recommendations. If a trusted friend of yours ‘likes’ a specific restaurant, it’s position will be raised when you use an associated search term.

Backlink Breakdowns

Google and Bing analyze backlinks to rate the importance of a page. If someone links to your article, it’s a ‘vote’ for that content. The vote is given more weight if the link originates site which receives many backlinks itself.
The Search Engine Optimization industry attempts to manipulate this metric. Techniques range from link baiting — creating good content which encourages backlinks — to more dubious methods. Most of us have experienced blog spam comments or useless automatically-generated link farm pages in search results.
Google, Bing and other search engines work hard to restrict black hat SEO practices with varying levels of success.

A Social Network Solution?

Microsoft owns a small share of Facebook so it’s not surprising they want to utilize that data. Google has implemented it’s own experimental “+1″ feature which allows users to rate the relevancy of a search result.
While I’m sure it will help some queries, the technologies raise a new set of problems:

Sign-in shenanigans

To receive rated results you must have a Bing account, a Facebook account and be signed into both. This slashes the potential audience — especially when many corporations ban Facebook in the workplace.

Most people are data consumers

The majority of people rarely publish content. Only a small proportion ever click a ‘Like’ button or send a tweet because it takes effort. In most cases, only those who have a strong positive or negative opinion will rate a product or write a short review.
It may be possible to collate some information by analyzing a user’s actions, but assessing their emotional attachment is far more difficult.

People are fickle

Facebook may be the most popular social network today but you would have said the same about MySpace a few years ago. Bing’s data is only as relevant as the users who remain on that system.

Not all content is rateable

While it’s easy to rate a website, page, product or service, how can you assess the quality of the underlying data. You might ‘Like’ a sunny weather report but that doesn’t stop it being wholly inaccurate when snow starts to fall.

Social networks can be manipulated too

Search engine positions are directly related to revenue so it’s only a matter of time before SEO experts discover new ways to exploit the social networks. Any number of psychological or technical tricks can be employed to make people ‘Like’ specific content. It occurs now so you can expect more companies to take advantage of the techniques.
It’s early days for social networking search integration so time will tell whether it improves results. But sorry Mr Weitz, I remain skeptical about any claims it will supersede backlink metrics.

PHP Application Development

As opposed to the Microsoft proprietary .NET platform (which supports scripting languages like C# and VB.NET), PHP is the open source language (hence free). Ideal for creating dynamically generated web pages, PHP is also an important part of the LAMP bundle. The LAMP architecture has become popular in the web industry as a way of deploying web applications. PHP application development is an integral part of our total service package. PHP can be best used with other tools to create different types of applications as needed. Our PHP developers therefore use JavaScript with PHP for building dynamic and interactive applications like calculations, pop-up windows, web counters and navigation systems. Using Ajax with PHP, we can develop Web 2.0 Rich Media Applications for a more fulfilling, user-friendly internet experience. We use MySQL (a component of the LAMP stake) along with PHP for building applications that are highly database driven.

The technology in today’s world is endlessly changing. It is important to maintain team that is well attentive to the latest technology and can run the maintenance activities accordingly. PHP Website Development is developed in open source, cost effective and largely used for developing dynamic database driven website.
